Business Internet Access

Full fibre broadband, leased lines and cellular data

We offer more than just a wide-variety of connectivity services. Our mission is to help you understand the key differences between them, and to use the ones most suited to your business.

Connectivity Services

Full fibre broadband

Scalable, more reliable, and faster (up to 1.6Gbps)

  • Up to 1.6Gbps download and 100Mbps upload
  • Far less prone to faults than part-fibre (FTTC) lines
  • Future proof (expect maximum speeds to increase in the future)
  • Advertised speed fully achieveable but not guaranteed at peak times due to contention

Full fibre is the next generation of broadband connections, and a significant set up from the part-fibre part-copper lines used previously:

What is contention?

Broadband lines are shared with nearby businesses and residents, which may cause slowdowns during peak times as multiple users compete for the same bandwidth—known as “contention.” As more users join the network, contention worsens, further reducing speeds.

This makes broadband an inexpensive option suitable for many smaller businesses, but only if guaranteed performance is not a priority.

Want zero contention, or faster speeds? Look at leased lines.

Leased lines

Uncontended bandwidth, guaranteed at all times

  • Dedicated fibre exclusively for your business
  • Guaranteed bandwidth at all times
  • Higher speeds than broadband (up to 10Gbps)
  • Upload speeds greater than 100Mbps

A leased line addresses the main problem with broadband: contention. A leased line connects your business to the Internet using a physically dedicated fibre, providing guaranteed uncontended bandwidth because you don't share the connection with anyone else:

How leased lines are installed to your business

This is the "gold standard" of business connectivity, technically the best available on the market.

It is also available in higher speeds (up to 10Gbps) and with symmetric bandwidth meaning that upload speeds are always as fast as downloads, ideal if you require fast data transfer to your customers or into the cloud.

Guaranteed bandwidth (but not uptime)

Leased lines guarantee consistent speeds at all times and are extremely reliable, but as with all single-circuit connections, occasional faults can arise.

A business might need a resilient option for its Internet connection to ensure continuous operations, especially if downtime could lead to significant financial losses, data breaches, or a poor customer experience.

Cellular data - 4G and 5G

Convenient, flexible and quick to install

  • Quick installations, as soon as next day
  • Wires-free: ideal for difficult-to-reach locations
  • Short term contracts available for temporary requirements
  • Access to all four UK cellular networks for best coverage options
  • Reliablity and speed is variable and cannot be guaranteed

Cellular data can be a great alternative (or sometimes complement) to wired broadband. Delivering without any wires means a quick installation, even in awkward locations, wherever there is reasonable signal coverage:

The Multi-Network Advantage

Our multi-network SIMs can utilise all of the four UK networks, connecting to the optimum mast available. Alternatively, we can manually steer the router to the best performing network in fixed locations where we can conduct an installation survey.

Resiliency

Businesses that cannot afford downtime include financial institutions, data centers, healthcare providers, and larger enterprises that depend on uninterrupted, high-speed Internet for critical operations. Even small businesses depend on reliable Internet.

We offer variety of tailored solutions to add additional resiliency to your primary connection to suit a wide range of scenarios and requirements.

Diverse leased lines

100% uptime guaranteed with dual fibre paths

An additional leased line offers a massive increase in resiliency, routing through alternative paths and exchanges to minimise overlaps and eliminate points of failure.

How dual diverse leased lines are installed

The second line can act as a fallback, being utilised only if the first line fails. Alternatively, it can be bonded with the first to double the available bandwidth. In the event of a failure, the combined 200% bandwidth would revert to the original 100%.

Who needs resiliency?

Businesses that require resilient leased lines typically include financial institutions, data centers, healthcare providers, and large enterprises that depend on uninterrupted, high-speed Internet for their daily operations.

These businesses often handle sensitive data, provide real-time services, or support a large number of users, making downtime or slow connections costly and disruptive. Industries relying on cloud applications, VoIP services, or large-scale e-commerce platforms also benefit from multiple leased lines to ensure consistent performance and minimize the risk of outages.

Semi-resilient options

Lower cost failover combinations

Leased line with broadband backup

A leased line with a broadband backup
  • Low-cost alternative to dual leased lines, where resiliency is desired but not required or mission critical
  • Limited to locations where full fibre broadband is available
  • Offers dual equipment resilience and optional exchange diversity, but no route resilience guarantee

Cellular backup

A full fibre circuit with a cellular backup
  • To protect against a fault with the main fibre service
  • Using the alternative medium (air waves vs underground fibre) increases resilience
  • Less intrusive to install than a second wired fibre line or broadband
  • Useful where business continuity is more important than speed
